Code of Conduct for trustees and volunteers

Our commitment to maintaining equitable and reciprocal partnerships.

CMCPT trustees, members and volunteers do not work directly with vulnerable
groups. The children, young people and individuals working with CMCPT remain the responsibility of the school or organisation to which they are members.

All representatives of CMCPT must follow and adhere to the following
guidelines which have been established to ensure a safe and protective
culture for all involved in trust activities:

  • Treat all individuals and groups with respect and set a good example in your own behaviour.

  • Avoid the use of negative discrimination or negative stereotyping. Value diversity.

  • Be aware of your choice of language and do not use inappropriate words or phrases.

When working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals:

  • Work in an open environment avoiding private or unobserved situations and encouraging open communication.

  • Ensure that another adult is present or in the near vicinity. Never work alone in a closed room with an individual child.

  • Avoid any unnecessary physical contact with young people that could be misconstrued as inappropriate.

  • Do not exchange personal contact details with children or young people.

Promoting the safety and welfare of all individuals involved in CMCPT activities is of paramount importance. Please raise any concerns immediately with the teacher or group leader in charge.

SAFEGUARDING IS EVERYONE’S RESPONSIBILITY. ANY CONCERNS
REGARDING SAFEGUARDING SHOULD BE REPORTED AS SOON AS IS
REASONABLY POSSIBLE FOLLOWING THE CMCPT SAFEGUARDING
PROCEDURE.
